Sunday Inspiration

Sometimes I feel powerless. There is only so much I can do in this world, only one place I can be at any given time.

When I feel a bit discouraged, this thought stands out. Do small things with great love. Yep. I think I can do that.

A Little Of Both

Blaine and I work together to teach an 11 year old Primary class. Each Sunday, we begin class by taking turns telling either one good thing that has happened, or one positive thing that we are looking forward to. It's really just a sneaky way to get their talking out of the way, and to find out more about the kids.

Today, for my turn, I told the class that Blaine and I have been approved through LDS Family Services to adopt. Our students had a lot of questions, and seemed excited and curious about it.

I realized as I shared that my news is a little of both. Getting approved and having our profile placed online is a good thing that has happened. It also is the first major step toward something that we are looking forward to: growing our little family. Either way, happy.

Meaningful Quotes (circa 1999)

Thursday was Career day at the school, and I found myself sorting through my classroom shelves, looking for ways to kill time. I found my old Seminary binder; in the front, I have a sheet of quotes that “spoke” to me as a high school student. Don’t worry. I did not cite most of my sources. The English teacher inside of me is cringing right now.

(Note to Cassi: Do you know to what your Dad’s barnyard quote refers?)

Enjoy.

“Practically perfect people never permit sentiment to muddle their thoughts.”

"Only those who climb so high can fall so far.”

“A person is kind; people are cruel.”

“Doing God’s will = receiving God’s power.”

“I believe that right is right and wrong is wrong” –President Hinckley

“Don’t drive around the block a hundred times! –Brother Ricks

“And we just run around the barnyard, saying, yeah, sure!”  –Brother Ricks

Though no one can go back and make
A brand new start, my friend.
Anyone can start from now
And make a brand new end.

I love the simplicity and beauty found in words.
