Kitchen Contemplation

We removed our cabinets last night because we are working to refinish them, and I am LOVING having the upper cabinets gone. I want open shelving! Now that these are off the wall, I have a difficult time imagining them back up. I'll think about it. Everything I read criticizes open shelving in a kitchen because of dust. And resale value. But it's my kitchen. If I know the cons, I still get to make the choice. What do you think?
