Day 5: Treats

Maybe Baby, you might have my sweet tooth. Just want to throw that out there.
You might have your dad’s idea of treats: applesauce and Jell-o. No joke.
Maybe you will like salty things, and I will have to stock the pantry with pretzels and popcorn instead. I’m willing to do that.

Day 4: Good

Maybe Baby, there is not a limit on the good in this world. There is plenty of good to go around. I'm a believer in positive thinking, and I think you should be too. Think good thoughts and good will find you. Sometimes life really is that simple. :)

Day 3: Tears

Maybe Baby, it’s okay to cry. It's okay for boys to cry. It's okay for men to cry. Some people are graceful criers, and some people are "ugly" criers. That doesn't really matter, because tears should never be for show, should never exist just for other people to look at. Tears are good therapy, and sometimes you can see the world most clearly through tear-filled eyes. You’ll understand that when you are older.

Day 2: Babies

Before your dad and I started dating, we realized that we would not be able to have babies. He has known his whole life that he would not be able to “have” children in the usual sense. He gave that to me as a reason to run in the other direction and never look back. Sometimes I am sad because I was not able to carry you inside me. I have never experienced pregnancy or morning sickness, and I probably never will. Even so, I have never once regretted marrying your dad. Families are formed in all sorts of ways, and Heavenly Father has a way of working out the details.

Day 1: Beginning

I’m beginning my 31-day challenge today. The premise is this: write about the same topic every day for 31 consecutive days. My topic: our maybe baby. My husband and I are hoping to adopt. We want to adopt a boy. We want to adopt a girl. We feel like there is a maybe baby out there who can benefit from the love we share.

While Blaine and I are open to adopting children of any age (not just babies), I’m referring to these posts as messages for my maybe baby, that child who might just be a twinkle that I will someday be given a chance to help raise. These posts will be a mixture of heart and head, of messages I want to send or things that I think about. They are mostly from the heart, for you to read so you can get to know us just a bit more. These posts chronicle my thoughts as I contemplate adoption. More than anything, they are messages for the little bite-size that I hope to someday hold. Without further flourish, I present to you: messages for our maybe baby.

31 Days

Last year I followed several bloggers who participated in the 31 Day Challenge. (You can find more details HERE.

The challenge consists of writing about the same topic for 31 days. I've given it quite a bit of thought, and tomorrow is the day. Please join me in October as I write daily posts; I'm excited to share with you!

Snowbird R&R

We are spending Labor Day weekend at Snowbird. Blaine finds it very relaxing. So relaxing, in fact, that he doesn't know I snapped this picture of him snoozing. He is so good looking.

What Do I Want Out of Life?

While cleaning out my desk I came across a piece of my writing from 2009. I thought I would share it here. :) What Do I Want Out of Life? In...
